The Association is firmly committed to the principles of equality for all individuals. As evidence of that commitment, IPMA adopted the following resolutions a number of years ago, to ensure that membership and association policies encourage equal employment opportunities for people with disablities and easy access to all IPMA conference facilities.
IPMA Code of Ethics Resolution
WHEREAS, the International Personnel Management Association-U.S. has established a code of ethics for its membership; and
WHEREAS, one of the purposes and objectives of IPMA is to "encourage affirmative programs that guarantee equal employment opportunity to all individuals" and
WHEREAS, current law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodations, and services provided by state and local government; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the International Personnel Management Association-U.S. amend its Code of Ethics to include "...fair consideration in all aspects of employment and to the pursuit of a rewarding career without regard to race, sex, religion, age, disability, or national origin.
Physical Accessibility
WHEREAS, the International Personnel Management Association supports equal opportunity as an essential aspect of employment; and
WHEREAS, the International Personnel Management Association recognizes its role in promoting sound personnel management practices; and
WHEREAS, the International Personnel Management Association seeks to involve all members of the personnel management community equally in its meetings and conferences; and
WHEREAS, persons with physical disabilities constitute a significant portion of the U.S. population and workforce; and
WHEREAS, a physically accessible site is one which is reasonably free of physical obstructions and barriers to persons with mobility impairments, now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that arrangements for all meetings and conferences sponsored by the International Personnel Management Association and its sections, regions and chapters, solely or in cooperation with other organizations, made after the adoption of this resolution shall be scheduled only at physically accessible sites; and be it further
RESOLVED, that all International Personnel Management Association sponsored meeting and conference announcements and brochures shall contain information indicating that the site is physically accessible; and be further
RESOLVED, that the content of this resolution be formally directed to each Chapter Region, and Section President by the President of IPMA.
