Health Care Costs

Whereas: The cost of providing health insurance to employees continues to rise and a significant number of individuals are without access to health care; and

Whereas: State and local governments have traditionally provided comprehensive health care coverage to employees; and

Whereas: State and local government employers are equally affected by the rising cost of providing health insurance to employees; and

Whereas: Congress is currently examining the issue and proposals have been made to expand access to health care; now be it

Resolved: That IPMA-HR urges Congress to fully consider the financial impact on state and local governments when considering the dynamics of health care coverage legislation; and be it further

Resolved: That IPMA-HR urges Congress not to pass legislation that will put a further strain on state and local government budgets.
