This workshop will show you how to develop an effective framework for a viable, effective workforce and succession planning program. Online course is intended for HR professionals and senior managements, who want to learn the ins and outs of workforce transitions and succession planning.

This course will include an Online Resource Guide with copies of workforce and succession planning success stories, policies, procedures and practices gathered by IPMA-HR from across the country.  This Guide will be referred to periodically throughout the course.

Program Description
This workshop will prepare HR professionals to address short-term and projected staffing needs. Participants will learn how to develop an effective framework for a viable, effective workforce and succession planning program.

 

The course is divided into four Modules:

  • Module One, Introduction—reviews HR-related activities and potential pitfalls in the planning process, and includes the tools to critically evaluate your current status.

  • Module Two, Getting Started—takes participants through all of the potential steps, with case studies from organizations who have already successfully established workforce and succession planning programs. This Module includes three group exercises that allow participants to critically assess their own organization’s status and needs.

  • Module Three, Making It Work—provides a review of the many issues and concerns that can arise as organizations work through their planning process. This Module includes an exercise intended to have participants self-identify what will constitute success in their organization.

  • Module Four, Achieving Success—ties together all of the competing interests and organizational needs that will contribute to ultimate success or failure. A final group exercise is intended to assess the impacts of these factors in your specific organization.
