There are five easy steps to attaining your IPMA-HR Senior Certified Professional credential:

  1. Review the prerequisites for certification to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements (see chart below).
  2. Fill out the IPMA-SCP application.
  3. Submit your completed application, along with the associated fee, for review. Once reviewed, you will receive your exam login instructions.
  4. Take the IPMA-SCP Exam (one attempt is included with your application fee) and achieve a passing score. Note: study guides are available for $100.
  5. Receive your certification in the mail, along with instructions to have us notify your supervisor of your accomplishment!


You must meet specific educational and work experience criteria and be considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) at the time you submit your application in order to be eligible to sit for the IPMA-SCP exam. These requirements are outlined below.

Important:  If you fall into one of the following categories: non-exempt under FLSA, a human resources consultant, currently are unemployed, or employed under an non-traditional HR title/role (outside of an HR department), please refer to the blue button listed below for further instructions (individual situations will be considered on a case by case basis).  Please be advised, human resources should be the primary focus of your position.

*The certification application includes one attempt of the IPMA-SCP exam, a $100.00 value.  Fees are due with the submission of your application and can be paid by check, MasterCard or Visa. If your application is not approved, you will receive a refund less a non-refundable $100 application fee.

**Special Rate for DCHRS Graduates: this rate is for those who have completed the Developing Competencies for HR Success Course.  The application and fee are mandatory for to become IPMA-SCP certified.
