Sacramento County has a total operating budget for 2020-21 of $6.41 billion, a staff of 12,500 employees, and a population of about 1.5 million residents. The Department of Personnel is comprised of several specialized division and service teams, The main divisions include: Labor Relations, Administrative Services, Risk Management, Employee Benefits, Employment Services, Equal Employment Opportunity, Workers’ Compensation, and Department Services., which is currently structured with five individual service teams.

The Department of Personnel Services reports to the Deputy County Executive of the Administrative Services Agency. The Director of Personnel services plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs the operations and activities of the Department, manages a budget of approximately $105 million (including the self-insured programs) and receives funding from County Departments through the Allocated Cost Package and direct services provided to departments. There are currently 206 full-time employees in the Department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: The County of Sacramento is seeking a dynamic individual with a broad background in human resources as well as extensive, in-depth management experience directing personnel programs and activities.

Experience formulating and implementing comprehensive program, functions, budgets and administrative processes for a large governmental agency is preferred. A Bachelor‘s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree is preferred.
