Valley Metro Human Resources is excited to announce the recruitment for a Human Resources Technician.

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, this position provides technical support and performs a wide variety of general assistance duties across human resource functions. The ideal candidate is someone who has excellent time management skills, can multi-task, and is team oriented and customer service focused.

Assists customers with a variety of general and technical HR related information; explains HR procedures and programs; researches issues and provides appropriate responses; screens and directs visitors and phone calls; answers questions and resolves routine problems; independently assesses and refers more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Provides administrative support for the recruitment process including posting internal and external recruitment notices, placing job advertisements, arranging interview panels, scheduling applicant interviews, preparing interview packets and closing out recruitment files.
Preserves high standards of confidentiality regarding applicant and employee information.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Assists with new employee orientation activities and prepares and distributes new hire information packets and creates employee files when on-boarding.
Reviews, verifies, and processes personnel actions and related documents, including entering information into the Oracle HCM system; and updating and maintaining various databases.
Provides information regarding the proper method of completing forms and processing information to employees.
Supports human resources staff in compiling and researching data for various personnel actions and special projects; updates various databases and tracks information; prepares a variety of reports extracted from the data.
Assists in planning, scheduling and coordination of employee events and meetings such as the annual service awards, new hire orientations, career fairs and benefits open enrollment; compiles documents and handouts; arrange for logistics and refreshments; sends out invitations and reminders.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Responds to routine compensation surveys and related inquiries; gathers and compiles salary survey data; assists in the preparation and revision of class specifications; completes and processes personnel action forms and related documentation for classification changes.
Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.
Basic principles and procedures of human resources administration;
Computer applications related to the work (Microsoft Office Suites, NEOGOV, Oracle);
Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment;
Business letter writing and the standard format for typed materials
Personnel record keeping principles and practices;
Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Performing standard human resources support work;
Interacting with the public, in person and over the telephone;
Managing a high volume of work while continually assessing priorities and deadlines;
Interpreting, applying and explaining applicable codes and regulations;
Performing responsible office support work;
Maintaining confidential information and records;
Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials;
Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines;
Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines;
Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities;
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

Associates Degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a closely related field, AND two (2) years of general administrative or technical support experience in human resources. An equivalent combination of education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
- Experience in a public sector Human Resources office is desirable
- Experience with NEOGOV applicant tracking system is desirable
License/Certifications: Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
