The Township Administrator is responsible directing the effective and efficient operations of all township departments, including Parks & Road Services, Fire and EMS Services, Zoning and Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Ohio township organization and functions, the ability to oversee and direct multiple projects and experience in supervision of administrative level employees. The Township Administrator will be an effective and confident communicator who is personable, accessible, approachable and good at building relationships to develop trust and respect with the township staff, Board of Trustees and the community.  The ideal candidate will have an inclusive decision-making style, but the ability to be assertive in making day-to-day decisions to address and resolve issues promptly.  The Township Administrator will prepare resolutions for the Trustees and conduct thorough research to provide confident, accurate recommendations and information to the Board.  The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of Township structure the Ohio Revised Code and be politically astute and experienced in helping building consensus and in working with staff, elected officials and partners to implement strategic initiatives.  The ideal candidate is well versed in local government management.

The Township Administrator will be a strong leader, able to develop a long-term vision for the Township in collaboration with Trustees and develop short and long-term goals to implement the strategic direction. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple entities, elected officials, building developers and staff in setting goals and ensuring goals are reached.  The Township Administrator is honest, accountable and ethical and takes personal responsibility for his or her actions.  The ideal candidate will be active and visible in the community and act as an advocate for the Township.

The Township Administrator will work closely with the Township Fiscal Officer and Department leaders in budget preparation and planning. The ideal candidate has experience working with multi-million dollar budgets in cost allocations and budget monitoring and forecasting. 

The Township Administrator is required to attend evening meetings of the Board of Trustees and occasional evening meetings of other entities, organizations or Township zoning boards.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, law or a related field and at least five (5) years of local government managerial experience in an organization of at least 50 employees, with thorough knowledge and understanding of budgeting, the ORC relevant to townships, legal issues impacting Ohio townships and be familiar with and have knowledge of township operations including, but not limited to, emergency medical services. The ideal candidate will have experience reporting to a board environment rather than to one individual.  A master’s degree in business administration, public administration, law or a related field is preferred but not necessary.
