For over 70 years, the public sector has relied on IPMA-HR's
Assessment Services for our expertise, quality, and customer service. We work with agencies and departments to ensure they have the critical information they need to make long-term, successful hiring decisions before hire. Our multiple-choice fire tests assess the knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal characteristics necessary for success.
FF-EL 100 Series
The FF-EL 100 Series is the most popular and easiest to administer of IPMA-HR's entry-level firefighter assessments. Extensive research has shown that the FF-EL 100 Series has no significant differences in assessment scores by gender, and minimal differences in assessment scores between racial/ethnic groups. The format of the assessment also increases standardization between paper-based and computer-based test administrations.
FF-EL 201/301-NC (TIP) Series
with Firefighter Interest Questionnaire
The FF-EL 201/301-NC (TIP) Series was provided by IPMA-HR to help reduce or eliminate significant score differences between gender and racial/ethnic groups. The series accomplishes this through the addition of a non-cognitive (NC) component known as the Firefighter Interest Questionnaire. The FF-EL 201/301-NC (TIP) Series includes a 20-minute session in which candidates must study material from a Test Information Packet (TIP), such as work-related articles, wanted posters, and maps. TIPs are collected after the study period has ended, but before the test booklets are distributed. Some of the multiple-choice items assess how well candidates remember the information they just studied in the TIP.
FF-EL 202/302 (TIP) Series
The FF-EL 202/302 (TIP) Series includes a 20-minute session in which candidates must study material from a Test Information Packet (TIP), such as work-related articles, wanted posters, and maps. TIPs are collected after the study period has ended, but before the test booklets are distributed. Some of the multiple-choice items assess how well candidates remember the information they just studied in the TIP.
