IPMA-HR has endorsed the Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act (H.R. 5813) that was introduced by Representative Kurt Schrader (D-OR). The bill would phase-in over three-years, the increase in the salary basis threshold that was included in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations that were issued recently by the Department of Labor. The bill would increase the salary basis threshold as follows:
The bill also would eliminate the automatic three-year increase to the salary basis threshold that was established under the new regulations. The bill would require the Department of Labor to provide public notice and a comment period on any proposed changes to the salary basis threshold.
The association’s endorsement letter is available here. For additional information, contact Neil Reichenberg, IPMA-HR executive director at nreichenberg@ipma-hr.org.
