IPMA-HR Supports Bill to Prevent Federal Government Shutdowns

The Association on Feb. 8, 2019, wrote to Virginia Sen. Mark Warner (D) to express support for his proposed legislation to make it impossible for civil servants to lose pay when a fiscal year ends without a new budget.

S. 198, the Stop Shutdowns Transferring Unnecessary Pain and Inflicting Damage In The coming Years Act, is aptly nicknamed the Stop STUPIDITY Act.

If passed, the law would keep federal agencies and departments operating on an automatic continuing resolution but halt funding for Congress and the Executive Office of the President until a new budget is adopted.
