IPMA-HR Executive Director Neil Reichenberg shared members’ assessment on proposed revisions to forms for requesting, reporting and tracking unpaid leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. The comments were submitted to the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor in a letter dated Oct. 3, 2019.
Overall, public sector HR managers consider the updated forms to be improvements over those currently in use. Further tweaks were recommended, but the most-significant request involved asking for the creation of a fitness for duty form doctors and employees could use to document the ability to return to work.
