Towns, Villages and Other Small Municipalities Can Now Request Coronavirus Recovery Funds

The U.S. Treasury is accepting applications from nonentitlement units of local government (NEUs) for allocations from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. Eligibility information, official guidance, FAQs, forms and a preapplication checklist can be found here.

NEUs are cities, towns, villages and other governmental units with populations of fewer than 50,000 people that are recognized by states or tribes. These municipalities have not previously had direct access to federal pandemic relief funds. Now, under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, NEUs can claim their share of $19.53 billion.

Allocations will be based on population.
